Scared of Heights

I guess it’s a survival mechanism,
If you’re up there somewhere,
You can just as easily fall down,
And that’s a long way…

Even as you place me on this pedestal,
I’m terrified I’ll fall,
It’s a precarious place,
The vertigo of such high expectations,
Such strong admiration,
The image of perfection you see in me.

What if I told you, I’m not so sure that’s me?
